WartPEEL vs. Other 5FU/SA Compounds
WartPEEL’s proprietary patented Remedium Adhesive Gel was designed specifically to treat warts. The traditional vehicle like creams, ointments solutions and pastes are better suited for rashes because they spread and dilute. This is not what you want in a topical wart formula. Tape is often used in an effort to control the spread but this doesn’t work.
To illustrate the difference, we added a blue dye to WartPEEL adhesive gel and a compounded 5-FU and salicylic acid, the same active ingredients as WartPEEL in a paste from another compounding pharmacy. Tape was applied after WartPEEL was fully dried. Tape was also applied to the paste after application according to the manufacturer's instructions.
You can see that after the WartPEEL Dries it actually turns a darker blue. This is due to evaporation and concentration. The next morning, WartPEEL stayed in exactly the same place as it was after it dried.
Meanwhile the paste had spread under the tape. This dilutes it’s strength which is evident by its lighter blue color. Perilesional irritation and inflammation is commonly reported from wart medications in traditional vehicles due to this spread to the perilesional skin. This leads to a long intermittent treatment that lasts months.
The results of the dye test for the anhydrous paste used as the comparator for WartPEEL could be generalized to include any anhydrous formula, which is the vast majority of our competitors (unless they're doing a 35d BUD or doing a stab indicating study). As long as the competitor formula lacks a volatile/evaporative component, then it's going to smear similar to the paste when they occlude it.
